The Great Pocomoke Fair is in full swing, running through Saturday, August 9th, and offering a delightful mix of entertainment and activities for everyone. This year’s lineup includes concert performances by Montgomery Gentry featuring Eddie Montgomery, on Friday and Urgent, a tribute band to Foreigner, set to take the stage this Saturday. For just $5 per adult, the fair offers a wonderful, budget-friendly outing.
Inside the main fair building, visitors can explore a variety of exhibits, from vegetables and baked goods to local arts and crafts. The animal barn is always a hit with the kids, featuring rabbits, chickens, goats, and even a long-haired cow named “Rufus” that quickly became a favorite. In addition to the exhibits, there’s plenty of delicious food. We tried John’s Smoked BBQ, which served up mouth-watering pork and beef barbecue platters, complete with coleslaw and potato salad. For those with a sweet tooth, funnel cakes, ice cream, and snow cones were also available.

When it comes to rides, the fair has more options this year than in recent memory. Visitors can choose between a $25 wristband for unlimited rides or pay per ride with tickets; we chose to buy a book of tickets to split between our kids. The ride selection includes a circular swing, a mini Ferris wheel, a train and truck ride for the little ones, and more thrilling rides like the Scrambler. Older kids might not have as much to do, but the young kids will have a blast. There are also classic carnival games, ensuring everyone can leave with a prize.
Overall, the Great Pocomoke Fair is a fantastic way to enjoy local fun with family and friends.
