All three Pocomoke schools earned top ratings in the Maryland State Department of Education’s 2025 Maryland Report Card release, according to Worcester County Public Schools.
- Pocomoke High School (PHS) received ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ with 69.7/90 points (77.5%). The district notes that all three county high schools led the Eastern Shore and that Pocomoke High ranked 12th statewide among high schools this year.
- Pocomoke Middle School (PMS) earned ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ with 108.2/180 points (60.1%), up from three stars last year after increasing its total earned percent by over five percentage points.
- Pocomoke Elementary School (PES) earned ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ with 32.0/48 points (66.7%), reflecting gains of 4.2 percentage points over last year. The district cites progress in both academic markers and performance for multilingual learners.
Worcester County reported that it is the only school system in Maryland where all eligible schools received four- or five-star ratings this year.
“These results reflect the unwavering commitment to excellence by our educators, staff, students, and families,” said Superintendent Dr. Annette Wallace. “Worcester County continues to be an educational leader in Maryland, and today’s report card release is yet another reminder of how our community’s investment in public education is transforming lives.”
Dr. Wallace added, “While data tells part of the story, what inspires me most is how our schools are helping students rise above barriers every single day. Research may suggest that poverty predicts performance, but in Worcester County, we are proving that when every child is known by name, strength, and need, potential—not circumstance—defines success.”
About the ratings: For elementary and middle schools, the Report Card combines academic achievement, academic progress, English language proficiency progress, and measures of school quality/student success. High school ratings include academic achievement, graduation rate, progress in English language proficiency, readiness for postsecondary success, and school quality/student success. All schools also include results from a statewide School Survey.
