A recent Maryland campaign finance filing made by Citizens for Caryn Abbott shows a $5,000 contribution from Paramount Carter Venture, dated March 16, 2026. The entity is listed with a Lakewood, New Jersey address that matches the address publicly listed for Paramount Realty, the developer for the Wawa project.
The contribution appears to be the single largest donation shown for Abbott’s committee. It was included in a campaign finance report covering the filing period of January 15, 2026 through May 12, 2026, with a reporting date of May 17, 2026. Contributions for the period totaled $7,455 with expenditures of $4,895.
Paramount Realty is the developer for the proposed Wawa at Route 13 and Stockton Road in Pocomoke City, with a site plan for the proposed Pocomoke location available on their website.
The campaign finance report lists the donor as:
Paramount Carter Venture
1195 Route 70, Suite 2000
Lakewood, NJ 08701
Paramount Realty’s website shows the same address listed on their public contact page for its New Jersey office, directly linking the two entities.
The contribution comes ahead of a June 4, 2026 public event shared by Abbott for the upcoming Wawa project in Pocomoke City. A promotional flyer for the event lists Paramount Realty alongside logos for Worcester County and the City of Pocomoke. The flyer advertises a “Coming Soon! Wawa” event scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on June 4 at Route 13 and Stockton Road in Pocomoke City.
Commissioner Caryn Abbott is currently seeking re-election for District 1 in Worcester County.
At the May 19 meeting of the County Commissioners, an annexation request from Pocomoke City for a property at U.S. Route 13 and Stockton Road (future site of Wawa) was reviewed. The property is currently zoned C2 General Commercial and is proposed to be B2 Business District within the town. County staff found it consistent with the comprehensive plan and zoning classifications. Abbott made the motion to approve sending a draft letter acknowledging this consistency and the commissioners voted in favor.
The Arrowhead has reached out to both Commissioner Abbott and a representative for Paramount Realty with questions about the contribution. As of publication, responses had not yet been received.
