Investigators believe Wells and Dehart had previously been in a relationship, and Wells was serving as Dehart’s caretaker at the time of the incident.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore determined that Wells’ death was a homicide, according to Maryland State Police.

Investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and crime scene technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division responded to the scene to review and process evidence.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Anyone with information relevant to the investigation is asked to contact Maryland State Police at 202-953-1903. State police said calls may remain confidential.
